The client requested that a solution be provided to reduce fan noise related to an airconditioner fan. The fan was producing noise in excess of 70dBA when operating. A silencer was custom designed based on the fan dimensions that would reduce the fan noise to acceptable levels. The silencer was designed to increase the effective distance of the fan, as well as absorb noise with fiberglass lining. The silencer reduced the fan noise by 12dBA, and was constructed of cheap materials such as plywood and 3” insulation board. The designs were presented to the client for implementation.
